Overcoming Weakness

Anyone who has ever deserved a letter from me, or asked me to send them something, or heard me say that I'm sending them something....(you got it) knows of my weakness. It's my biggest one. And I don't know WHY it is. I seriously have a pile of thank you notes from 2 years ago sitting in a drawer. They are stamped, addressed, sealed, and ready to go. Yeah, and there they are, sitting in my drawer.

I am still NOT sure why this is such a big weakness of mine. I LOVE getting mail. And I really love the joy that comes when someone gets something from me.

Sigh. Insert this weekend. We got our announcements. And started stuffing. And stuffed and stuffed and stuffed. On Sunday night we went to settle all the addresses and finalize our lists. It took WAY long. And it was 93 degrees in the office. We finally printed everything out, and last night we finished labeling all of the regular announcements.

So, this morning was a big moment. I psyched myself up for it all morning. I took my box of announcements. And my coworker (because she's fantastic and supportive). And we drove to the Georgetown post office. We checked and double checked the announcements, ensuring each had a return address label and a stamp. Then we sent them off!

The announcements are IN THE MAIL friends! I know some people must wonder why this is a big deal. And probably in the scheme of things, it is not as big of a deal as it's been in my mind. But it has really been something that's important to me. I feel as if i've proved myself somehow (as emotional as that gets....) by overcoming one of my weaknesses.

We still have some more to send. Some straggling addresses and the extra pieces announcements (which...we hope we get all right and send the right ones, it's been kind of confusing). But I will send them tomorrow! Yay (Insert pats on the back and really really validating and nice and encouraging comments here...or below in the comment section).

Wedding Hair, Take 1

So for the past few weeks I've been in consultation with Annie (Seth's sister-in-law the famous hairdresser) and others about my wedding hair. I was really excited to have it kind-of up but still show off the length, but with the record heat around here I've realized that there's a slim chance that I'll actually be able to have my hair down and still look great after and hour, let alone an entire day.

So after many pictures and lots of discussion, we've come up with some possibilities:

I really like the top of this one, but the bottom is a little too curly.

This is bordering on cliche utah big hair, but i like the chignon and how it looks on the sides...

I like the romantic-look of these two. I'm not sure if I'm committed to going curly, but it will be fun to try!!!

So...last night I did a quick test run.

Wedding Hair

I found out a few things

1. I'm going to need lots of setting spray and silicon glossy stuff so i don't have frizzies
2. I have a LOT of hair
3. I need a bigger pearl comb...sigh. (refer to #2)
4. I need lots more practice and about 100 more bobby pins and probably a professional!

I have recieved a few recommendations for hair-up-doers in the Bountiful area, but I wondered if anyone had any other recommendations?? If Annie can come to the wedding I'll have her do my hair on the wedding day, but we have to get pictures on the 10th and I'll need someone on that day for sure! Let me know if you have any ideas!

Panic

Breathe Jane Breathe!!!

I have spent all day stressing over my address labels. Not because they're a big deal, just because I wanted to make sure I did them right. I looked everywhere for cream labels...which they do NOT have (sob!) and we opted against clear labels because sometimes the names get scratched off and we don't want to risk people not getting announcements because of that. So we settled on White. Just plain old White. Sigh.

So THEN I decided to get Creative and use the JaneyGirl font for my address labels, thinking it might look like my handwriting (nevermind the fact that they're on a blaring WHITE label on a CREAM envelope). Duh, Jane. Of COURSE people are going to know that I printed them--they're on white labels!! So they look like I was trying to be cutesy. I'm so embarrassed.

THEN I realized that we need return labels. And HELLO, of COURSE I forgot to buy them. And then i was informed of the etiquette that I need them on the back of the envelope, and then I realized that I should have just paid to have the address printed on the back because then it would save us time and money.....

Ohhh I'm just so flaky sometimes. Count me in as th panicky bride today. I think, in Carol's words, It's a Cupcake Top day. Cept I'm in training for my 5K on Saturday, so no Cupcakes for me. Bring on the Celery!
